LET THERE BE LIGHT

Kohler builds the first modern-day generators. Originally created to power KOHLER® plumbing products in rural America, the KOHLER Automatic Power & Light provides instant electricity to homes, boats and businesses around the world.

The First Night Flight
1925 THE FIRST NIGHT FLIGHT

On July 1, 1925, two U. S. Air Mail airplanes marked the inauguration of regular night mail delivery between New York and Chicago. KOHLER generators made this historic moment possible by powering the revolving light beacons across the continent which charted the course for the pilots.

After the successful flight, the U.S. government would buy 600+ KOHLER generators to light 10,700 miles of night air mail routes.

1929 THE WORLD TAKES NOTICE

KOHLER generators join Admiral Richard Byrd and his courageous crew during their historic South Pole expedition. At the bottom of the world, thousands of miles from assistance, the generators provide the expedition's sole source of power — in subzero temperatures. When the mission is over, Admiral Byrd leaves the generators behind. He won't see them again for another four years.

Kohler Goes Hollywood
1929 KOHLER GOES HOLLYWOOD

Kohler becomes the behind-the-scenes star of the silver screen, when its generators are installed on movie studio "sound trucks" to power Hollywood's film cameras and sound recording equipment.
